We are part of the Disability Confident scheme run by the DWP and are proud to say that we have been certified as Disability Confident Employers.
The disability confident scheme encourages employers to think differently about disabilities and to consider and change where necessary, their processes in recruiting, training and developing their staff with disabilities. Being a Disability Confident Employer means that we are helping to lead the way in our community by changing attitudes for the better.
There are currently over 11 million people in Great Britain with either a long term illness, impairment or disability. Between 2013 and 2019, only around half of disabled people were in employment (53.2%) compared with 4 out of 5 (81.8%) non disabled people (BASE, 2022).
What we are doing:
-Challenging attitudes towards disabilities
-Increasing understanding of disability
-Removing barriers to disabled people and those with long term health conditions
-Ensuring disabled people are able to reach their aspirations and fulfil their potential
By being a Disability Confident Employer we are able to draw from the widest pool of talent available, securing high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working, and are able to improve staff morale and commitment by demonstrating we treat all our staff equally.
We are lucky enough to have a qualified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) specialist on our team, who specialises in Employment, so take inclusion very seriously. We are therefore able to offer a Special Educational and Disability consultant as part of our service. Please let us know if you would like more information on how we can assist you in this area.
We are currently applying for certification to be Disability Confident Leaders.
